I like a good grapefruit. Seeing you pics, I'm going to have to go out and buy one. I had a similar experience with a fresh fig a couple summers ago. It was perfect and earthy and good. When I was eating it, I was thoroughly in the moment.

And btw, your dad's whole wheat bread? I still crave it to this very day. It's that good.


I love grapefruit too, although it is somewhat related to my recent elevation of breakfast to my favorite meal. What's your 30-second grapefruit eating trick? I have these serrated spoons that do the trick pretty well. But they crush as they scoop, and don't preserve the plump solidity of a carefully cut wedge.
