If I recall correctly from the Niles biography of Doyle, Doyle was in poor health by the time Belluschi arrived. I am not sure they worked together very closely. Perhaps Tony Belluschi could fill us in.

Thank you for this thoughtful, researched, and well wrtten account of the architectural threads from the east to Portland. Great stuff.

If I may be so bold to suggest, another theme would be to trace the connection and influence of Chicago School architectural style Sullivan, Adler, Wright, etc.) to Portland. I am surprised how many early Portland architects passed through Chicago.
