Tomorrow (Friday) morning at 10:30am, Metropolis magazine editor in chief Susan Szenasy will be on hand at the Gerding Theater to lead a panel discussion called "Green With Envy: How Innovative is PDX in the Quest for a Sustainable City?" The event is the latest in the Idea Studios presented by Pacific Northwest College of Art as part of their Ford Institute for Visual Education.
The panel will also include a number of prominent Portlanders in the green building field, such as Susan Anderson of the Office of Sustainable Development, Greg Baldwin of Zimmer Gunsul Frasca Partnership, and Mark Edlen of Gerding Edlen Development.
In the meantime, maybe some of you have an opinion: just how innovative is Portland when it comes to green design?
If you're not familiar with Metropolis magazine, I'm attaching a PDF with several articles I've done for the magazine over the years, including reports on PNCA and the Gerding and other local sustainable projects and the work of local firms and designers like GBD, BOORA, SERA, Kevin Cavenaugh and Randy Higgins. Metropolis is really the best magazine out there at giving a sophisticated look at design and architecture without resorting too much into academic or over-technical dialogue geared to the profession, or puffy picture-stuffed PR.
