This evening at 7PM in the Wieden + Kennedy building atrium (224 NW 13th Ave.), Seattle-based architects/artists Annie Han and Daniel Mihalyo of Lead Pencil Studio will deliver a lecture about their work presented by Disjecta.
Educated at the University of Oregon, Han and Mihalyo have assembled a impressive body of work over the past decade, including the breathtaking Maryhill Double installation in the Columbia Gorge, a reimagination of the namesake art museum that was erected for several months last year. Last year, Lead Pencil Studio was selected as an Emerging Voice by the Architectural League of New York and received an Artist Trust Fellowship from the city of Seattle, a Genius Award from The Stranger (since when is an alternative weekly taking over for the MacArthur foundation?), and a residency from the Headlands Center for the Arts. They've also exhibited at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
At the lecture they will discuss past and present works, the convergence of art and architecture and what's to come in the future. And you can't erase the impressive artistry Lead Pencil has exhibited so far.
They just won the Rome Prize.
