Brian Libby is a freelance journalist and critic living in Portland. Among the magazines and newspapers he has contributed to over the past 15 years are The New York Times, The Atlantic, Salon, Dwell, CityLab, Metropolis, The Oregonian, The Christian Science Monitor, and Architectural Record.
Brian is also an accomplished photographer and filmmaker. His photos were exhibited in a critically acclaimed show in the summer of 2003 at the American Institute of Architects called "Out of Site". His short films have screened as part of the 2005 Northwest Film & Video Festival and the 2007 Portland International Film Festival. In June 2007, the Portland Art Museum's Northwest Film Center featured a retrospective of Brian's films called "Brian Libby: Travelogues".
Brian is also the co-founder of the Friends of Memorial Coliseum, devoted to saving this landmark circa-1960 Portland arena.
Brian's first book, a short history of Oregon Ducks football called "Tales From the Oregon Ducks Sideline", was published in August 2007. His next book, "The University of Oregon Football Vault", was released in November 2008.
